Misconceptions about the application of carbon fiber drones
The issue of weight reduction has always been the focus of attention for UAVs, because UAVs are small in size, light in weight, easy to transport, can take off and land vertically, flexible in flight maneuvering, adaptable, and efficient, and for this kind of micro-small machine, the impact of weight reduction on the performance of various aspects is particularly obvious. Weight reduction not only reduces resistance and increases agility during flight, but also effectively extends endurance and improves work efficiency. However, “weight reduction” is by no means the only purpose of the application of carbon fiber composites in UAVs.
Carbon fiber composites, in addition to light weight, also has a large strength, creep resistance, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, vibration resistance and other performance advantages. The ultra-high structural stiffness and deformation resistance of high-modulus carbon fiber composites are fully embodied in the wing.
Although there are many advantages, carbon fiber composites are by no means “all-purpose oil”, and its practical application effect is related to many factors. Whether carbon fiber composite material can play out the due value in the UAV, one is to see whether the designer's design is reasonable, and the second is to see whether the production process of carbon fiber UAV parts is optimized. It is suggested that under the premise of ensuring the reliable performance and stable size of UAV parts, the overall curing molding process should be selected as far as possible, and the molding tooling should be simplified as much as possible.
